Mark your calendars, the 38th annual GRIP Harmony Walk 2024 is set for Saturday, October 5th, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the usual spot — Nicholl Park on MacDonald Avenue in Richmond. Celebrity guests, elected leaders, an amazing suite of raffle prizes, musical guests, and a chance to celebrate the work being done to end hunger and homelessness in West County make the big day memorable.
“This year, we’ll be keeping the walk short and are hoping to focus the energy of the event at the park, where we’ll have games, kids’ activities, and more. Our hope is to have even more booths and food trucks than last year,” said Harmony Walk chair and board member Jilly de la Torre.
With a tighter focus on the event venue, the theme gets an update this year too: “GRIP Harmony Walk… in the Park.” Designers are still working on the logo for this year, while businesses work on their donation commitments, raffle prizes, and guests.
“The annual Harmony Walk is GRIP’s biggest public event,” said board member Brandon Mercer. “What I love about it is how the community comes together from across the region to walk the neighborhood, connect and learn about what’s new at GRIP and show our support for the amazing staff and our clients who depend on this support.”
The 2023 Harmony Walk raised $46,266 dollars thanks to donors including Sims Metal, Episcopal Impact Fund, Chevron, Mechanics Bank, Chase Bank, Kaiser Permanente, The San Francisco Chronicle, M.A. Hays Insurance, East Bay Municipal Utility District, AC Transit, Richmond Building Trades, SF Bay Ferry, and SOS Toilets.
“We are so grateful for all of the community members who have supported GRIP over the years, both our longtime supporters and those who are new to GRIP and the Harmony Walk,” de la Torre said. “We’re so excited to see all of you out there this fall!”
