Dozens of backpacks stuffed with number 2 pencils, crayons, markers, notebooks, hand sanitizer, face masks and more arrived to the eager smiles of GRIP’s families’ children on Monday, August 12th thanks to the generous donations of the Kiwanis Club of  Richmond and our community.

The Kiwanis Club’s Yenny Garcia tells Chevron’s Richmond Standard, “Growing up in Richmond, I remember what it felt like not having the right school supplies, so this project is very close to my heart.”

The group arrived with school supplies and a desire to see all the change and improvements at GRIP, touring the facility and meeting with staff, board member  Ruthie Abelson, and Executive Director Ralph Payton.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. If you want to support GRIP too, make sure to register for the 38th annual Harmony Walk in the Park taking place October 5th from 10am-1pm.
