#GivingTuesday on December 2nd, 2025 reminds everyone of the critical role each and every one of us can play in the lives of our neighbors, and the future of our community around GRIP.

“Giving Tuesday matters to GRIP because it reminds our community that compassion isn’t theoretical—it’s dinner on a plate, a warm bed, a conversation that keeps someone going. Every contribution, big or small, becomes the difference between surviving and actually having a chance to rebuild,” said Executive Director of GRIP Ralph Payton.

Right now, urgent needs include sandwich making supplies, given the high cost of food, while items needed for our supply warehouse include blankets, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, lotion, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, combs, and face towels.

DONATE NOW

Payton emphasizes that, “Generosity is a practice, not an event. You don’t have to be wealthy to make an impact; you just have to be willing. Folks sometimes forget that giving isn’t charity—it’s solidarity. It’s saying that no one in our community gets written off or left behind.”

Besides giving money or necessities, the gift of time is always cherished at GRIP, from serving in the Souper Center, to helping in the garden, joining our events, and helping with other opportunities as they arise. If you’re not sure how to give your time, just call the office at (510) 233-2141.

“On Giving Tuesday, people choose to believe that neighbors still take care of neighbors. That belief fuels our work all year, but this day gives it a megaphone,” Payton added.

Let your voice be heard this Tuesday, in money, time, supplies, and prayers. Thank you for being a neighbor helping our neighbors.
