2025 Homelessness Trends: Signs of Progress

The results of Contra Costa County’s 2025 Point-in-Time Count bring encouraging news: 2,118 people were experiencing homelessness on a given night — a 26% decrease from 2024. This means 725 fewer people living without stable housing across the county .

Here in West County, the numbers reflect significant progress as well. The total number of people experiencing homelessness in Richmond dropped from 388 in 2024 to 208 in 2025 — a 46% decrease. West County as a whole saw a 41% reduction, demonstrating the impact of community partnerships, expanded shelter capacity, and focused outreach efforts .

At GRIP, we see these numbers as both a milestone and a call to action. Continued investment in shelter beds, housing programs, and wraparound services — combined with collaborative efforts like our new partnership with ADEii Health — will be key to sustaining this positive momentum and helping more of our neighbors find a path to stability and dignity.
